Representative parents, staff, and a community member comprise the District  Advisory Committee (DAC) and serve as a vital link to the Board of Education. The DAC provides a community perspective to the Board of Education on important  issues. The DAC provides the Board of Education with assistance in helpingthe individual schools meet compliance with state accountability laws.

Key Components:

• By law the local Board of Education must appoint a DAC.
 
• The areas of study of the DAC should be cooperatively developed annually, and should include a process to measure the adequacy and efficiency of educational programs offered in the school district. 
 
• The DAC shall have a minimum of seven and no more than eleven voting members selected by the Board of Education of the school district consisting of four parents (one in the Castle Rock, Parker, and Highlands Ranch planning areas and one charter school parent). The membership includes one teacher, one community member and one administrator appointed by the superintendent. 
 
• The high school students are involved via the Student Advisory Group.
