achievement gaps for subpopulations of students who are not proficient
in acquiring the essential skills of reading, writing and mathematics

access for all students to a liberal arts education to ensure the acquisition
of a core body of knowledge, exposure to the fine arts and exploration
beyond the liberal arts through a continuum of services and choice

Douglas County School District seeks to provide a liberal arts education
supporting the development of responsible citizens who are contributing
members of society. This vision calls for our students to think critically,
embrace ethical principles, demonstrate self-motivation and resourcefulness,
apply their learning, and take ownership of their own well being.
As the Assistant Superintendent of Learning Services, it is my responsibility
to ensure that the Learning Services Team is focused upon this vision
of our school district. The Learning Services Division includes three
branches of operations: School Improvement, Instructional Support Services,
and Curriculum, Instruction, Assessment, and Student Development. Collectively,
Learning Services provides District leadership and support in critical
components of effective schooling – preschool through post-secondary
education options.
Career Development Career Development consists of the following departments: Career and Technical Education, Post-secondary options and School to Career.
